2 Humans & The Cosmos – Alien Love Song

The music, on the other hand, definitely is not. Having listened to this music in different situations (at work, at home, on the train) I can say that this music does not limit itself to specific situations or moods, such as some music seems to do. Instead, you can listen to it anywhere you like, and you’ll love it anyway.
The album opens with the title track, a nice laid back track with a tribal feeling to it, much of which can be attributed to the great rhythmic loop that is used. All over the album, a tribal feel comes back, by the way, which is great. Beautiful sounds and beautiful rhythms are combined to create a wonderful atmosphere. The complete album contains this nice feeling, up until the morning light that is pictured in the closing track.
Against expectations after seeing the “sci-fi” name of both the band and the album, this album has a less electronic feeling than a lot of other albums in this genre, most probably due to the use of a “real” instrument: Cello. The 2 humans that are behind this project collaborate by combining this acoustic instrument with a laptop full of magic. The result is a refreshing mix of sounds and styles, having the tribal feeling, but also giving it a jazzy feeling at times.
It’s hard to truly pinpoint any favourites, since most of the music on this album is simply great. If I’d have to choose though, Alien Love Song and High are probably my picks. The first because it’s the perfect start for this album, setting the style and feeling for the album. High impersonates the essence of this album: Great atmosphere, acoustic feeling, beautiful rhythm. A delight to listen to.
2 Humans & The Cosmos have a promising future ahead. My work passes as fast as it’s never done, my train ride home while listening was a dreamy ride that felt like a nearly instant teleportation, and listening at home allowed my stress to be relieved. Yes, this album is brilliant.
