Blotnik Brothers - Mizuage
Feb 11, 21:58 by Stefan KoopmanschapThe US leading electro label Satamile has another great release out. Swedish duo Blotnik Brothers bring their Mizuage to the ears of the listener.
In the press kit that accompanied the promo I received, Blotnik Brothers are announced as “the Chemical Brothers for the electro world”. This is a tough promise to keep, but it definitely caught my eye and fed my curiosity.
Even though the music is announced as fresh, new, creative electro, Mizuage starts with a track that doesn’t really interest me much. Schlag Prallt Auf Rmx doesn’t really sound that innovative to me. However, as the sounds of In Technology We TRUST kick in, I am immediately caught by the sound. This works very well, I can’t keep my head still anymore. Starforce Exodus even starts with some industrial rhythms, and keeps that influence throughout.
Variation is key on this release. With “Don’t worry you won’t dissolve” being completely different than the previous tracks, but with it’s more sober feeling so interesting as well. To ensure you stay in the mood, Meta Data immediately gets you going again with some screaming 303’s and aggressive rhythms.
The variation, the need to nod your head, it all continues on. Blotnik Brothers, though maybe not as groundbreaking as the Chemical Brothers in their early days, definitely know how to get a solid record out to us. Mizuage is definitely recommended for lovers of refreshing electro, but might also appeal to some of the lovers of earlier electro. Despite the refreshing sound, Blotnik Brothers won’t restrict themselves, and that’s their power.
