Cousin Lou - Moody Dollar

Jan 4, 16:15 by Stefan Koopmanschap

Beluga Recordings has a name of selecting some eclectic electronica, and this release, though maybe slightly eclectic, is more accessible and mainstream I guess. Dubby, melodic electronica that is easy for the ears. Going from Massive Attack-like trip hop to a loungey style that would fit on any of the lounge compilations available at the moment, this release is quite interesting and varies a lot. But the basic feeling of the music is laidback, dubby, east listening electronica.

Personal favorites for me are Merciful Pilate Dub (the opening track on the album), Stella Dash and Blistering, which all seem to capture best what I like about this album.

As all Beluga releases these days, this release is available as a free MP3 download from the Beluga website.

I quite like this release, and I think it will appeal to a much bigger audience than most previous releases. As such, I hope this may just get a bit more attention for the label and it’s wonderful music!
