Autechre - Quaristice (Special Edition)

Autechre is pretty much a legend in the realms of what people like to call “IDM”. Quaristice is their latest offering, and brings us even more legendary sounds. It is not as groundbreaking anymore as it was back in the days of, say, their first Peel session (or earlier even) but it doesn’t have to be. Listening to Autechre is always a refreshing shower in the overwhelming stream of music.

Daft Punk - Alive 2007

Daft Punk have been at it for quite a while now. They are regularly referred to as the Godfathers of the french house or filter-house, having made this style popular. In 1997, they released a live recording under the name Alive ‘97, and now ten years later, another live recording is being released.

QuestionmarQ - Pride of America

Seedyr is known to me for it’s quality in house and techno music. And so I was excited to hear about the release of an artist I had not heard of before: QuestionmarQ.

The Chemical Brothers - We Are The Night

It seems they’ve continued their work of Push The Button on this album, with a little less refreshing and a little more repeating. The sound it still quite commercial, but instead of refreshing their sound, they start borrowing from the older material, using older styles in a new coat.

LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver

The debut album by LCD Soundsystem was nearly unanymously welcomed as legendary at the moment of release. Two years have passed since the year 2005 when the debut hit the streets, and LCD Soundsystem are attempting it again. Sound of Silver is their second album.

Hooverphonic, Melkweg Amsterdam, May 21 2007

Quite by accident I found out about this concert taking place, celebrating the tenth birthday of Hooverphonic. This special concert would have Hooverphonic go back to their roots by playing their first album, A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular, in it’s original glory. Of course, other, later, hits would also come by.

Tiësto - Elements of Life

Where previously I’d think of Tiësto as always doing a similar boring trance sound, Elements of Life has given me new insight. The variety of styles that he uses on this album is wonderful. I think this album will very much broaden the fan base of this dutch-born DJ-become-artist.

Les Rythmes Digitales - Darkdancer

Every once in a while I go through my whole cd collection to find something fun from the old days. In some rare occasions you find some jewels that for some reason you haven’t listened to as much as you should’ve. Darkdancer definitely fits in with that.

Silicon Scally - Bioroid

Where the previous releases I’ve heard of Satamile focussed on dark and aggresive electro, Silicon Scally brings a refreshing taste from one of the leading US electro labels. Instead of dark and brooding, Bioroid gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

I Am An Exit - Envelop Remixes

Three remixes of an original that I have never heard and so I can not compare with. The usual suspects of the Seedyr, Chymera, Asciinoid and big techno star Corrugated Tunnel provide the remixes, basically giving a guarantee for some high quality music.
